SEB broadens EUR fixed income offering
SEB’s Fixed Income group is braodening its EUR offering by creating a globally aligned currency-focused value chain, where the euro will become its own trading unit alongside the Scandinavian currencies. This is in line with SEB’s ambition to broaden its corporate business in Europe.
“Having a broader EUR offering will be key for future growth and to maintain relevance with our corporate and institutional client base,” says Carolina Crevatin Martin, Head of Fixed Income at SEB. “We would like to continue building from our strong position in EUR-denominated fixed-income advisory and execution services, while being leading in Scandinavian currencies in all segments.”
“This is a fundamental step for Credit Capital Markets towards our ambition of becoming the leading Nordic Fixed Income/DCM house for our clients - both issuers and investors across our home markets,” says Carlo Lugani, Global Head of Debt Capital Markets at SEB.
As part of this change, a new trading team will be created with a dedicated focus on Euro-denominated Fixed Income products. As a central part of this new structure, Derry Hubbard will join the Fixed Income/Credit Capital Markets team as Global Head of Syndicate/Head of EUR Products at SEB. He will report to Martin and be a member of the Fixed Income and Credit Capital Markets management team.
Derry joins from Danske Bank where he held the position of Global Head Primary Markets, responsible for integrating the credit platform, a decentralized business into one global platform across local currencies and EUR, including ESG strategies. Previously Derry spent some 12 years at BNP Paribas London, where he was Global Head of FIG and SSA Syndicate. Derry has a strong expertise in ESG matters and has held the role of Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Culture at Danske Bank, a cause of great importance to both him and to us.
“Derry’s extensive multi-jurisdictional primary and secondary market experience, a passion for client interaction, risk management, strategy, building and expanding business with a hands-on leadership style makes him an ideal candidate for this new role,” says Martin.
