Union Investment appoints Head of Institutional clients

Harald Rieger will take over responsibility for the Union Investment Group’s business with institutional clients from August 2022 at the latest. 

In this function, he will succeed André Haagmann, who will move to a position on the Board of Managing Directors of Union Asset Management Holding AG in March 2022. Subject to approval by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), Rieger will be appointed to the Board of Managing Directors of Union Investment Institutional GmbH at the same time. Rieger’s most recent position has been that of the Member of the Board of Managing Directors of DWS International GmbH with responsibility for sales, marketing and the European branch offices.

Rieger (44) studied economics in Hamburg, Edinburgh and Frankfurt. After ten years at Deutsche Bank, for example in sales positions in the Fixed Income and Private Wealth Management departments, Rieger moved to DWS 14 years ago. As Head of Investment Specialists for the EMEA region, he was initially responsible for aspects such as product strategy and product development. In March 2019, he assumed responsibility for the entire business with institutional and wholesale clients in Germany and Austria, including the CEE region. Harald Rieger was appointed to the Board of Managing Directors of DWS International GmbH in July 2019 and has since also been appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutscher Pensionsfonds AG and as a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Treuinvest Stiftung.
