20-20 Trustees adds Trustee Director in Birmingham office

Tom Stockley has joined 20-20 Trustees from law firm Gowling WLG as a Trustee Director. He will be based out of the firm's Birmingham office.

Stockley was previously a partner at Gowling WLG in the firm’s restructuring & finance practice and brings a wealth of experience in advising pension scheme trustees and employers in all matters relating to employer insolvency and distress, including on the risks around formal insolvency procedures and pre-insolvency risk mitigation.

Having previously worked for an international investment bank, Tom also has significant experience in the pension investment space. He has advised a number of scheme trustees on key documentation risks arising from their liability driven investment and longevity hedging strategies.

Stockley says: “I am delighted to be joining 20-20 Trustees. The team’s entrepreneurial and solutions driven approach coupled with its strong emphasis on team work and collaboration make it the perfect fit. I look forward to contributing to our future success and importantly helping our clients achieve their goals.”
Having spent much of his career in the restructuring arena Stockley is adept at dealing with the fast-paced nature of restructuring assignments, in quickly understanding complex issues and distilling those down to provide clear and concise advice. Tom’s strengths lie in his commercial awareness and consequently his ability to provide pragmatic solutions to complex issues and scenarios.
Managing Director, Naomi L’Estrange, adds: “It’s fantastic that we’re able to continue our 2021 growth plans by adding someone with Tom’s knowledge and expertise to our team. His legal background, combined with his pragmatic approach to the various issues facing pension schemes in these challenging times, will be of great value to our clients."
