MFS expands European sales team with new hire in Spain
MFS Investment Management (MFS) is expanding its sales team in Iberia with the appointment of Alejandro Sanchez Toledo as a relationship manager.
The appointment is a part of the firm's continual efforts to enhance its presence in Europe.
In his new role, Alejandro Sanchez Toledo will be responsible for developing and maintaining existing relationships with professional buyers, contributing to MFS' overall growth in Spain.
Alejandro Sanchez Toledo joins from Santander Asset Management, where he has worked for the past six years. Most recently, he was a portfolio manager with client relationship responsibilities working in the institutional solutions department. Before this, he was a portfolio manager assistant working in the area of institutional pension funds, convertible funds and asset allocation portfolios.
MFS now has an experienced team of four covering the Iberian region, managing over EUR5 billion in assets on behalf of Spanish and Portuguese clients.
Alejandro Sanchez Toledo joins a team lead by Carlos Aparicio, managing director, Spain and Portugal for the firm, and he will be working alongside Gonzalo Alonso and Oliver Arevalo-Bacon.
Aparicio says: 'MFS is well known among professional buyers in Spain. To date, we have been concentrating our sales activities around this area of the market. Having established our presence there, we now wish to expand our business into new client segments. This will give us the opportunity to diversify our client base and increase the focus on MFS' core investment strategies.
'We are delighted to welcome Alejandro to the team. His combined portfolio management and client relationship experience will help us continue to deliver the highest level of service to our existing client base and build new relationships with professional buyers,' he adds.
Sanchez Toledo says: 'I'm extremely excited to be joining a firm like MFS at this time. I look forward to working with the team and building on the firm's established business in Spain.'
Sanchez Toledo's appointment is the latest in a series of European sales appointments at MFS. Most recently, Carsten Uekermann joined the MFS team in Germany, Romain Drezet in France and Luigi Burdo in Italy.
