Vontobel Asset Management launches global infrastructure fund
Vontobel Asset Management has launched the Vontobel Fund II - Duff & Phelps Global Listed Infrastructure in cooperation with Duff & Phelps, an affiliated Manager of Virtus Investment Partners.
Following a global infrastructure investment strategy, the fund has a total return approach that strives to provide benefits including stable income, capital appreciation, low risk, and long-term inflation protection. Due to its defensive equity character the fund tends to exhibit low drawdowns, consistent dividend payouts and attractive diversification qualities with regards to equities. Additionally, ESG aspects are fully integrated into the research process by placing an emphasis on corporate governance, capital stewardship and sustainable cash flows.
With currently USD130 million in assets, the fund invests globally in publicly traded owners and operators of physical infrastructure assets that provide essential services generating stable and predictable cash-flows across entire business cycles. Through the fund, a broad range of investors may gain access to companies that are set to benefit from secular trends, such as the transition to renewable energy, the replacement of ageing infrastructures and the modernisation of communication technology.
“In the current low-yield environment, the quest for returns remains unbroken. With the launch of this fund, we are aiming to provide broad access to stable sources of returns and attractive long-term earnings growth potential at high liquidity levels,” says, Daniel Signer, Global Head of Multi Asset Products. “We are pleased to build on the experience of Duff & Phelps, a leader in investing in global infrastructure, to launch this fund. Their active and fundamental approach to investing is a perfect match for Vontobel Asset Management’s investment beliefs.
“Within the UK, we believe our new fund can also provide an opportunity for DB and DC pension schemes to gain access to the diversifying and higher yield benefits of infrastructure investing within a daily-priced fund vehicle,” adds Sheridan Bowers, head of Vontobel’s UK business.
