German Government adds DWS expert to Sustainable Finance Advisory Council

The German Government has appointed Petra Pflaum, DWS’ CIO for Responsible Investment, to its Sustainable Finance Advisory Council. Pflaum will become a member effective from 20 May 2020.

Pflaum’s appointment was made upon the request of the German Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. 

Pflaum comments: "I am very proud to be able to advise the German Government on its Sustainable Finance strategy and to participate in its implementation together with the other members of the Advisory Council. Our declared and common goal is to elevate Germany into a leading Sustainable Finance location. The current pandemic in particular reinforces the need to further promote and strengthen our economy in a responsible and sustainable manner.” 

Members of the Sustainable Finance Advisory Council include representatives from the local financial sector, the real economy, civil society and science. The Advisory Council advises the German Government on how to strengthen Sustainable Finance in Germany by pooling existing resources.
