BNPP IP appoints head of global segments and EMEA

BNP Paribas Investment Partners (BNPP IP) has appointed Cynthia Sweeney Barnes as head of global segments and EMEA.

Sweeney Barnes will lead the EMEA country teams and four client segment teams – corporates & endowments, insurance, pension funds and official institutions – to realise BNPP IP’s growth plans for its institutional franchise.
She takes up her new role on 13 May 2014 and will be based in London.
Sweeney Barnes has over 25 years of experience in asset management, during which she has led sales teams across various regions, capabilities and client segments. She started her career in 1986 and has, since 1996, focused on institutional clients from the UK, EMEA and other regions. She worked for the asset management arms of Aetna, JPMorgan Chase and, from 2001, for HSBC Global Asset Management where she led sales activity covering corporates and official institutions.
“I am excited to join BNP Paribas Investment Partners,” says Sweeney Barnes. “With a compelling range of equity, fixed income and multi-asset capabilities and a strong position in key segments such as official institutions, there is a solid basis for further building partnerships across all segments and regions.”
David Bouchoucha, deputy head of institutional business line, adds: “We are delighted to have Cynthia on board. She brings a wealth of experience in business development, across regions and institutional client segments. She will be instrumental in driving growth and further diversify our institutional client base in the coming years.”
