BNP Paribas Securities Services makes two senior appointments

BNP Paribas Securities Services, a global custodian with over USD8trn in assets under custody, has made two senior appointments.

José Placido will join the executive committee of BNP Paribas Securities Services on 22 April 2014 and become global head of sales and relationship management with effect from 1 January 2015.
Until then, Placido will co-head sales and relationship management with Charles Cock, the current head of client development. During this time, he will focus on strategic sales planning with the heads of the global client segments reporting to him.
Placido was previously CEO of RBC Dexia and has over 25 years’ experience in the securities services industry. He became CEO of RBC Investor Services in 2006 and was the primary architect and leader of the RBC Dexia Investor Services joint venture, leading the growth of the business. Prior to this, he held key positions at RBC, including managing director of its UK office, becoming senior vice president of RBC Global Services in 2001 and executive vice president in 2003.
Placido will be based in London and will report to Patrick Colle, general manager.
Cock, current head of client development and a senior member of BNP Paribas Securities Services’ executive committee, will from 1 January 2015 become vice-chairman - international, a new senior client executive role focused on key customer relationships.
Until then, Cock will co-head sales and relationship management activities with Placido, retaining direct responsibility for the client development teams across the bank’s 34 locations around the world.
Cock joined the group in 1995 when Paribas bought the JP Morgan European clearing and custody network. He has been in charge of sales and relationship management ever since, playing an important role in the bank’s successful growth over the years.
Colle says: “I am delighted to welcome José to BNP Paribas. José has an outstanding track record in our industry for implementing a growth agenda and driving performance. He joins at an important time for our business, which is growing rapidly around the world.
“Charles has done an outstanding job as head of client development and will now be instrumental in fostering new senior relationships with our customers. These appointments position us well for future growth, and the transition period will ensure a smooth handover.”
