Lawton Camp joins Kaye Scholer as partner in New York

Structured finance lawyer Lawton Camp has joined Kaye Scholer as a finance partner in the firm’s New York office.

Previously a partner at Allen & Overy, Camp has represented issuers and dealers on several US, Canadian and European bank debt and covered bond programmes.

Representative matters include advising the dealers on the first ever registration of a covered bond programme with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for Royal Bank of Canada.

“In keeping with our long-term strategy to focus on and invest heavily in our core strengths, Lawton’s arrival continues to expand on our top-ranked structured finance capabilities,” says Kaye Scholer managing partner Michael Solow. “His experience will be of particular assistance to our banking, credit agencies, private equity, funds of funds and other financial services clients. He also will enhance the breadth of our Canada practice, which currently advises Canadian companies on a wide range of cross-border transactional issues.”

Camp has a broad range of structured finance and securitisation experience, including representing underwriters and other arrangers, originators and issuers, credit enhancers, and investors in a wide variety of securitisations, structured products and covered bonds. These include securitisations of credit card, trade, lease and consumer finance receivables; auto loans; export credit agency (ECA) loans; commercial and residential mortgages; and emerging market “future flows.” He has also advised on the structuring of EETCs; catastrophe bonds; and cash and synthetic collateralised debt obligations and various derivative instruments and structured products.
