Samson Capital Advisors announces Samson STRONG Nations List
Samson Capital Advisors, an investment management boutique with USD7.3bn in assets under management, has announced the Samson STRONG Nations List.
The list of nations is included in the holdings of the Samson STRONG Nations Currency Fund as of 31 January 2013.
"Our current currency holdings represents nations that Samson believes have healthy economies and financial systems, freer societies, more effective governance, stronger rule of law, and transparency," says Jonathan Lewis (pictured), chief investment officer of Samson Capital Advisors and lead portfolio manager of the Samson STRONG Nations Currency Fund.
The Samson STRONG Nations List comprises Australia, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, South Korea, Norway, New Zealand, Sweden, Singapore and Taiwan.
"Safeguarding capital and currency purchasing power from the unknown consequences of the Federal Reserve's experimental central bank policies is of paramount importance to investors today," says Lewis. "We have developed an approach that screens nations on a variety of fundamental metrics. This value oriented investment process identifies nations who demonstrate, according to our criteria, that they are staunch defenders of value. In order for a nation's currency to make it into our portfolio, it has to pass a number of tests that confirm a commitment to conservative fiscal management, stability, and freedom.”
STRONG is an acronym for:
Sustainable fiscal policies that reduce the probability of financial crisis
Transparent, reliable, readily accessible economic data
Regulatory systems that support, rather than constrict or distort, economic growth
Open societies where free markets are becoming more dominant, and currency rates are set by market forces
National fundamentals that reflect prudent fiscal management
Government that is more democratic, where the rule of law and property rights are secured
The Samson STRONG Nations Currency Fund seeks to generate positive returns with limited drawdowns over full market cycles through investments in currencies, securities and instruments that are associated with STRONG nations.
The fund is available directly to investors and through the Schwab, Fidelity and Pershing platforms.
