State Street Global Advisors appoints senior strategist
State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the asset management business of State Street Corporation, has appointed Howard Kearns as senior strategist in the investment solutions group, specialising in liability-driven investment strategies.
The appointment comes as SSgA’s liability-driven investment (LDI) proposition continues to evolve. SSgA has expanded its investment solutions group team in London and has also launched 32 LDI funds this year, to complement the 10 that were already available.
Raymond Haines, head of European strategy and research at SSgA, says: “We are committed to strengthening our proposition, and Howard’s appointment supports this strategy. He brings a wealth of experience and will be a strong addition to the team.”
Kearns has previously been responsible for creating solutions for the pensions and insurance markets, with Nomura, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs. In recent years he has focused on longevity hedging and the pension buy-in market, as well as asset liability management structuring. He began his career at Watson Wyatt working in both the pensions and investment practices.
Also joining the Investment Solutions Group is Max Scharl as portfolio manager, LDI Structuring. Scharl joins from SSgA’s risk analysis division where he was investment risk analyst for fixed income in EMEA. Both Kearns and Scharl will report to Haines.
