Rashid Bin Ali Al-Mansoori has been appointed as chief executive of Qatar Exchange.

According to Hussain Ali Al Abdulla, acting chairman of QE’s board, the appointment is in line with the general policy of the State of Qatar in terms of appointing highly-qualified Qataris in leading positions in government and semi government institutions.

“The selection of Al-Mansoori was based on his vast and long administrative and technical experience since he occupied various positions and supervised numerous successful initiatives and projects, besides one and a half year experience as deputy chief executive in Qatar Exchange and previous experience in Qatar Investment Authority and QE’s board membership,” says Al Abdulla.

Former chief executive Andre Went will remain working with QE as a strategic adviser.

Al-Mansoori (pictured) has specialised expertise in the fields of administration, IT and financial services. He served as IT director at the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) where he was responsible for establishing the IT department and setting investment and financial system applications. He also served as IT director at Qatar Olympics Committee and the head of applied systems at the Ministry of Interior. He also worked in leading financial positions in the refining department of Qatar Petroleum.

Al-Mansoori is currently a member of QFC’s board and served as a board member in various Qatari companies and institutions, including Qatar Exchange, Dlala Brokerage and other governmental institutions.
