QS Investors launches QS Investors Liquid Alpha Fund

Wed, 26/09/2012 - 13:23

QS Investors, an independent investment firm providing asset management and advisory services to institutional clients, has launched the QS Investors Liquid Alpha Fund, a Ucits regulated fund domiciled in Ireland.

QS Investors Liquid Alpha Fund, a daily liquid alternative investment, became available to qualified non-US investors on 14 September 2012, and will bring QS Investors’ expertise to individual and institutional investors located outside the US.

The strategy is designed to offer similar volatility and return characteristics as a bond fund while providing low correlation to traditional asset classes such as bonds and equities. It also seeks to mitigate risks associated with fixed income such as duration and credit risk.

More specifically the objective of the fund is to generate capital appreciation above the Citigroup 3-Month US Treasury Bill Index while actively managing to a risk target. The fund will invest both long and short across sovereign bond and country equity futures, and developed and emerging currency forwards.

“Private banks, financial advisers and institutions have told us that they expect close to zero return from cash, low returns from fixed income with interest rate risk and low and volatile returns from equities going forward. In order to meet their clients’ objectives they have told us they want a fully transparent, daily liquid alternative strategy to diversify their exposure to bonds and equities. We developed the Liquid Alpha Fund to meet that need while also targeting a fixed volatility target to try to minimise downside risk,” says Keith Van Name, director at QS Investors.
