HSBC Global Asset Management bolsters European institutional business

HSBC Global Asset Management has named Heiner Weber as head of institutional sales, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Weber (pictured), who has been with HSBC since 1995, retains his position as managing director, HSBC Global Asset Management, Germany and reports into Rudolf Apenbrink, chief executive officer, EMEA.

Apenbrink says: “Heiner brings a wealth of experience to this role. I believe with this latest appointment, our institutional team is now well-placed to deliver world class capabilities and services to all clients across the EMEA region. As head of institutional sales, EMEA, Heiner and his team will look to drive institutional business development across the region and focus on key client relationships.”

HSBC Global Asset Management’s institutional business centres across the EMEA region, including UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Middle East, as well as the European consultant relations team will now report into Weber.

Weber has been managing director, HSBC Global Asset Management (Germany) since 2002. Previously he worked in the equity sales and global markets units of HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt.
