Standish Mellon Asset Management, the fixed income specialist for BNY Mellon, has hired Amanda E. Abdella as senior portfolio manager with responsibility for managing bond portfolios for insurance clients.

In this newly created position, Abdella will also have client service responsibilities. She reports to Anthony C. Criscuolo, managing director of insurance client strategies for Standish.

"Amanda has substantial experience managing bond portfolios in the insurance industry," says Criscuolo. "She is a welcome addition to our insurance team, which has grown assets under management nearly 13 per cent to USD19.3bn during the first half of 2012."

Abdella had been a senior portfolio manager and senior vice president for Hartford Investment Management, where she was responsible for managing a wide range of fixed income investments.
