Frederic Gautier joins Chilton Investment as portfolio manager

Chilton Investment, an investment management firm with approximately USD6bn in assets under management, has hired Frederic Gautier as portfolio manager of its European equities strategy.

The firm commenced its European equities strategy in 1999.

Gautier is a veteran money manager who spent 11 years of his career, from 1994-2005, at Fidelity Investments in London, where he managed over USD5bn in assets in a number of Pan European funds.

In 2006 Gautier was hired as a portfolio manager at Theorema Asset Management. For four years he helped to manage the assets of the firm’s long/short Pan European equities fund.

Gautier will report to Richard L. Chilton, Jr., chairman, chief executive and chief investment officer of Chilton Investment, and will be based in Chilton’s London office.

Chilton says: “We are very excited that Frederic has joined the firm. He is highly-regarded within European investment circles for having amassed, over the course of 16 years, a consistent and outstanding long-term investment track record in European equities. Additionally, his arrival signals Chilton’s commitment to further building our European strategy at a time when the European markets are stressed. We believe that a strong presence in Europe continues to be a critical piece of our global strategy.”

Gautier adds: “I am delighted to join Richard and his talented global team. For some time, I have admired Chilton as a world class investment management firm whose reputation and culture is well-known and respected. I am proud to be a member of the firm and look forward to building our European strategy business and collaborating closely with the existing London team.”
